Astros Trade:
SP Masahiro Tanaka 15-19: $22M annually. 20:$23M
Yankees Trade:
1B Joey Votto 15:$14M, 16:$20M, 17:$22M, 18-23:$25M annually, 24:$20M
I accept, picking up a 1B that I can later trade for cap space following this season while freeing up space for more players by about 8M.

Accept. I had a surplus of bats and corner infielders and needed to sure up the pitching. Tanaka should help me with K's and wins. Both players are expensive on long contracts and this deal serves a need for both teams involved.

Fair deal all around. Votto is the better contributor but has the worse contract (potential to be a $25M bench player in those final years) and Tanaka's elbow could need surgery at any time, so he, too, carries risk. Good trade, guys

Both have a lot of risk and a lot of upside..I personally think Tanaka has a bit too much risk compared to votto, but its definitely a matter of opinion. Approve
